Sample Letter

Dearest Friend,

Sorry for not keeping better touch with you as often as I could. Even though your friendship is very important to me, distance did affect our connection. In order to compensate, I decided to write you a letter the old timey way. You know the customized and most expensive way. Since money makes the world go ‘round. Obviously.

I was recently thinking about that time when we decided to look up scholarly articles about Kanye West. You have to admit that the end result was awesome and it helped you gain a greater appreciation for Kanye West as an artist and a straightforward man. That was until the Grammy’s when Kanye demanded that Beck give his award to Beyonce. That was insane! Then, Kanye comes out with saying that he made Beck more likable by his actions. That's a good point. A great point. In fact, too much of a good point. The conspiracy theorist inside of me is calling this whole event a conspiracy. Amiright? (Or maybe I should stop actively seeking out conspiracy theories on the internet.)

I’ve been thinking about the impact of world events a lot. In my communications class, we’ve been discussing the coming of age events that have influenced generations. For example the Boomers were strongly influenced by the Vietnam war and by The Catcher and the Rye. (Talking about this book, have you watched the J.D. Salinger on Netflix? It’s called Salinger, it’s awesome and I totally recommend it!) From there I decided to search google to find events that influenced our generation. I honestly wanted to find evidence suggesting that the 2009 VMAs was the most notable event that our generation has ever experienced. Except that I discovered a very depressing fact. For example, our generation is the first generation in existence that doesn’t how the world was outside of school shootings and 9/11. That’s insane! I hope future generations know us for something positive and cool. What do you hope those reasons would be?

There you have it. An inside view of my thoughts on pop culture since you’ve moved away. I would get more personal however, I would prefer to talk to you through Skype or the phone so that I can properly express my thoughts. If you don’t feel the need to send me a letter. Email me. Talk to me via Facebook. It’s all good!

Missing you,

Me

P.S. Attached is a photo of my mom from the 1990s. This totally looks like something that a fashion blog would have with the caption #Vintage. Just had to share!
